John Gibson," An Accurate Map of the West Indies with the Adjacent Coast. "  Published in The Gentleman's Magazine, London, 1762, in relation to the French and Indian War.  Copper engraved map with two folds as published. Slight uniformly age browned. Close cropped from binding to left side with a no loss of  the neatline (see image.) No tears or repairs. Mallet, Allain Manesson. Lisbonne. Printed 1685. From the German edition. Early color. Condition: Good plus. No tears or foxing. Impression is strong. Paper is lightly evenly soiled. Size: 4" x 6". Excellent miniature copper engraved view of Lisbon Harbor from the view point of the sea. Displaying galleons in foreground and several galleons, galleasses and other small boats in background. Accurate depicting of the city before its partial demise in an earthquake a century later. ...Framed in acid-free archival matting ....$175

Moll, Herman. A Map of the West Indies & c. Mexico or New Spain. Also ye Trade Winds and ye several Tracts made by the Galeons and Flota from place to place. London, Circa 1720. Uncolored. Condition: Very good. Several thin and hairline tears but most outside margins not affecting the image. Paper is intact and solid with the expected wear from use asNotice the routes of the Spanish Treasure Fleets... a folding map in a book. Two tiny foxing spots appear side by side on right center (See the close up view for detail on spots).  A classic map depicting West Indies at the height of Piracy. Exceedingly hard to find, this is perhaps the most informative map to clarify the area of pirate haunts (next to Molls larger map of the West Indies). It is featured on countless book cover end-papers, such as Burgess's "Gold, Galleons and Archeology". A pirate library must have. This map is in roughly the same condition as the previous Moll map with the exception of it consisting of stronger paper.

Ogilby, John. Urbs Domingo in Hispaniola. London 1671. Uncolored. Condition: Fine with some brown spots. Decorative birds-eye plan of the city of Santo Domingo, displaying very accurate detail of the city from the approach of the sea. This view offers more surrounding detail then Merian's Hispaniola (circa 1640) making it perhaps the most reliable source available for the period.

From the old French version of George Anson's A VOYAGE ROUND THE WORLD, IN THE YEARS MDCCXL,I,III,IV. Entitled Voyage Autour du Monde, Fait dans les Anne'es MDCCXL, I, II, III, IV. Par George Anson... First French edition. Amsterdam: Arkstee & Merkus, 1751. The book included four large folding maps:

(1) "Essay d'une Carte Reduite Contenant les Parties Connues du Globe Terrestre. Par M. N. Bellin ... Avec la route qu'a tenu l'Admiral Anson."
(2) "Carte de la Partie Meridionale de l'Amerique Meridionale ..."
(3) "Carte du Canal des Iles Philippines Par lequel passe le Galion de Manille, et des Iles voisines de ce Canal".
(4) "Carte de la Mer du Sud au Mer Pacifique entre l'Equateur et le 39 1/2. de Latitude Septentrionale".
Plus approximately 30 other folding and 2 other single-page maps, charts and views. The book generaly sells at about $1500.00

This map is the third: "Carte du Canal des Iles Philippines Par lequel passe le Galion de Manille, et des Iles voisines de ce Canal". Very good condition with tiny tears outside the margin. One tear, although intact, protrudes margin at middle left. Folds typical of a map from a book. Paper evenly age browned. Scarce and from the rare French edition. Chart of entrance to Acapulco Harbor with run lines indexed by letters with key (probably drawn by Bellin). This map comes from an official account of the famous voyage by George Anson (1697-1762) in which he plundered Spanish Galleons in the Pacific. Rounding Cape Horn with 8 ships and 900 hundred men his privateering acts brought a fortune in treasure. ...$45.00
